Cal poly SLO vs Pomona

Which should I go for? I’m mostly concerned with what school would be better in regards to major and how useful my degree will be (Listed some information about my choice with both)

SLO :

  • bio concentration in ecology
  • probably will minor in statistics
  • already received acceptance
  • I have teachers who recently graduated from there who I can talk to about their experiences and advice
  • will be moving to a new area with no friends and family near by unless some of my classmates attend

Pomona

  • bio concentration in zoology
  • still waiting for decisions
  • I have a friend in the general area so I wouldn’t be as alone

an undergrad bio degree is not particularly valuable, period. No matter from what school, not just these two.

With it you can get a job such as lab tech with little opportunity for advancement. The union card these days in the sciences is a PhD, although that is no real guarantee of employment once you get tired of temp jobs as a post-doc. There is a PhD glut (look it up) and since jobs can be filled with PhD holders the kid with a BA is largely fighting for scraps.

The things you can do with a Bio or other science degree is apply to med/dental/vet school or look for a job in technical sales.
