Cal States

Sooooo I’m not super smart to begin with. I bombed freshman year. I had serious personal issues going on

Cumulative GPA: 3.4 W (freshman year brought me down)

Freshman year:
1 semester: 2.9 (yikes)
2nd semester: 2.5 (YIKES!!!)

Sophomore year was a bit better:
1st semester: 3.2 GPA(I got a D in a class but retook over the summer and got a B)
2nd semester: 3.8 GPA
*i took honors Spanish 3

Junior year:
1st semester: 3.8 GPA
2nd semester: 4.1 GPA (straight A’s)
*i took AP span language and culture

Senior year I am taking AP Stats and AP Spanish lit and culture. Hopefully I can get a 4.3 if I get straights a’s again

ACT: 23 composite
English 22
Math 25
Science 22
Reading 22
I studied so hard but got insanely nervous taking the test and took way too long on the sections.

I’m applying to Cal poly slo, San Diego state, cal state long beach, cal state Fullerton, San Jose state, and San Fran state.

I know extra curriculars don’t even matter so I won’t list those.
I hope colleges see my upward trend and won’t just judge me on freshman year.

My calculated GPA for CSUmentor was a 3.75

I also live in California.

I am a first generation Mexican American if it matters

What are my chances??

Cal Poly and San Diego are probably high reach just because of the huge amount of students applying. I’d say you have a good chance with everything else. San Diego has a better chance of low reach because of your ACT score, and the upward trend in grades.

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1834024-chance-me-for-ucs-particularly-berkeley-la-sb-davis-usc-and-uwash-seattle.html#latest

SDSU/SLO are Reach schools but worth an application. CSU Fullerton and Long Beach are High Match depending upon major. SJSU and SFSU look like matches. I would add your local CSU as a safety.
Good luck.

Your ACT-based CSU eligibility index is 980 (= 3.75 * 200 + 23 * 10).

SJSU publishes past thresholds for admission by major:
http://info.sjsu.edu/static/admission/impaction.html
For those applying for fall 2015, 980 would have gained admission to all majors at SJSU except for accounting and computer science. Of course, thresholds could change for fall 2016 applicants.

For a safety, you may want to add a non-impacted CSU campus where your major is not impacted, and/or your local CSU campus if its local preference is sufficient to make it a safety.

Thank you too all who responded!!
I got into all except cal poly slo, sdsu, and long beach. Buuuut… I got into some pretty good other school.

Deciding between chapman, UC Santa Cruz, and uc ruverside!!
