I was just wondering if there is a calc class for engineers? At the presentation, they made it seem that way, but when I was with my advisor there wasn't any kind of special section mentioned.

When my S signed up for his freshman engineering MAC2311, there were certain sections that were reserved for engineers only. He was automatically put in one of these. This was his teachers home page: [MAC 2311 Home Page](http://www.math.ufl.edu/~kozinski/MAC2311/MAC2311Home.html)
I don’t know if it is this way this coming Fall. I personally think that they give the Freshman Engineering students (vs. other majors) a kind of challenging professor. There is a professor in a large lecture hall for all the freshman Fall engineering students and other profs for other majors. Why? Kozinski (last fall’s MAC2311 prof) was difficult to understand, and maybe they thought that the engineering students probably had some calc in high school and could understand his reasoning/teaching better. Prof. Kozinski had very poor reviews on the UF Professor evaluations site and Ratemyprofessor.com. However, since my S took and aced AP Calc A/B in high school, he had no probs in MAC2311, and it was a review. He thought Prof. Kozinski was fine.

they aren’t reserved for engineers only, but the section does say ‘calc for engineers’. i noticed (the semester i took it) that the engineering ones had better times for whatever reason, so i signed up. i was concerned that i’d get booted for not being an engineering major, but i spoke to some people in advising and they weren’t sure, and i never got booted.

i don’t think that calc for engineers is any different than regular calc. if anything, its just a matter of emphasis and applications/examples.

The sections are not limited to engineers only, and the material covered is the same as the normal sections. I believe the only difference is that the majority of students will be engineers
