Has anyone taken the calc placement exam yet? If so, how was it? Were the questions difficult/tricky? How many questions were there? Was there a timer for a certain amount of time?
(Note that I'm not asking for specific questions/problems...)

I'm trying to gauge how much I should obsess over reviewing last year's calc :p .

It probably will take about 2 - 3 hours to do. Each section is not individually timed, but there is some kind of a 24 hour limit or something. You should do them in one sitting.

Go to blackboard, click on "View Grades". You can view how many questions per section there are and what the average score is.

It's not difficult if you know the material from the BC calc exam. And keep in mind they determine placement from both your AP score and this placement exam's score.

Oh and, try not to fail the series section (it's not hard if you know the material), because I heard they'll only place you in Calc 2 even with a 5 on the AP.

awvvu is right. I easily aced all the sections but got only the average score on the series & sequences part :( Well, Calc II here I come again..

It's reasonably short, a handful of questions per section. Whole thing can be done in a little over two hours (considering you aren't suppose to use a calculator and have to work it all out by hand). Definitely review series and sequences - the only section I got any questions wrong on. >< Ugh, another year of Calc II. Otherwise, all multiple choice, not really difficult.

Is the material covered in AP cal bc enough for the placement test? I 'm a little concerned about the series section cuz i am really suck at it:(

Yes, it's the exact same material. If you do well on everything except series, you'll be placed in a mini course (half semester) that covers the BC calc stuff instead of a full Calc 2 curriculum.

What is considered a "good" grade on this. I got 42/48, at or above average on all sections and 7/8 on series... is that good? (it seems like it should be).

f u stormgren haha how did you do that? I got 5 on BC test simulation and understand concepts fine but just couldnt focus on the placement test cause it felt unimportant. I ended up with an 18 I believe completely skipping diffeq and series sections and stopping after one integration question. But actually I have a question as well, will I be able to place out of calc 1 and 2 because it could really be unnecessary for me to take them

No, they consider their placement test more important than your AP score. I don't think you can place out with that score. You can probably email them and ask them to let you take it again.
