I took the calc placement test and got placed into 21-121.
Then I find out today that I scored a 5 on the Calc BC exam which places me out of 21-120 and 21-122.

So..........I'm sort of confused on which classes i GOT the credits for..... can anyone help out this lost soul?

and 21-121 and 21-123 together are the same as 21-122, yes?

They look at your ap score and how well you did on ur placement exam to determine what class u get place in. I think u need around 40 out of 48 and a 5 on the bc exam to get place into cal in 3 dimensions. If u pass the class at the end the semester, u get credits for cal 1 and 2. HOw did u find out ur ap score ?

Contact your advisor or the math department.

If your placement score was so low as to warrant 21-120 or 121, it’s probably not a bad idea to repeat some parts of the curriculum.

You can always ask to head to 122…seems perhaps that 259 is a stretch if the placement was 121. They sometimes allow students to head to 259 if the placement was for 123 …but your placement isn’t even 122…121 is the second half of 120…so you might want to really explore whether you feel confident with the math.

Look over the topics in the catalog for all those courses-- 121, 122 and 123…where do you think you feel you would be best placed…then propose that to the advisor/math department.

Talk to an advisor before you register for classes to resolve things.

I’m just wondering - have you actually heard about your official placement from someone, or is that just what you determined from your score on the placement test? Just wondering, because I haven’t heard anything yet.

californiadancer - a few days after you take your test, your placement (the class number) appears in the “placemenet score” section on blackboard

No one in CIT or SCS has their scores yet on Blackboard-- these students were told this week.
I also heard that Tepper students didn’t get their scores either. I’m not sure…my S knows a girl from a nearby high school heading to tepper and she didn’t hear either…

Gashergina-- are you MCS or HSS??
That might explain things…
