Well, I got a 38/48 on the calculus placement test, but this was due to a stroke of brilliance on my part when I decided to take it without looking over any notes. I haven't taken a math course since the Fall 2009 semester when I took Calc II at a local college. So basically, I'm rusty, and if I took the time to look over the calc stuff I've learned, I'd easily be able to remember most of it. I also have 5s on AP Calc AB and BC, and A's on the two college-level calculus courses I've taken. Will these merit my placement into 3D Calc, overriding my not-that-great placement test score? Or will I be able to discuss this with my adviser when the time comes and place myself at my own discretion?

Be proactive…contact the guy who wrote the letter about the placement test…

Do you have transcripts for those college courses-- that’s a different matter than usiing an AP score to advance.
If you have transcripts and get credit for 120 and 122, then 259 is a done deal.

If all your points were lost in the DFQ and Series sections you may want to revisit things…
If points were spread evenly throughout the sections- that’s just errors…not as informational to the placement people.

Again, shoot and email to the guy who determines placement.

If all of your points were lost on the diffq and series section… then it really should have no impact on your ability to succed in 3D calc. You can get A’s in 259 and 241 without remembering much of that stuff since a lot of it will come back quickly if you need it, or you quite frankly will never need or use it in the course.

im really glad i saw this post because im in the same boat…i got a 38 also and i really want to be put in 3d

I got 39…5 on BC…hope i place out.
