I need help regarding which of these 2 courses to take during my fall semester. Im a soon to be freshman admitted through EOP. In BEP (the EOP summer program) I got a 30/33 on my calculus placement test (minimum of 20 to pass) and my math instructor gave me the ok to sign up for Calc, so i did.

My problem is that I also signed up for Microeconomics (106) in the fall and now I worry that it will be extremely challenging to ace both classes my first semester at BU. See, I'm trying to major in Accounting and to do that I would have to transfer to SOM, and to be considered for an IUT I need a minimum gpa of 3.5. My other classes are Music 115 and Writing 110.

So considering this, which class would you recommend for me in the fall? Do you think I could get As on both 221 and 106? For the people who took those two, how hard was it?

First of all, I think you mean ECON 160, not “106.”

Secondly, if you would like to transfer as early as possible (which is by the end of your freshman year) you will need to take those courses. You might as well balance them out so you won’t need to take Calc, Macro, and Stats in a single semester in the spring. You passed the calc exam with good results, so don’t worry about being prepared for the course. You are ready to take it. You will be bored in pre-calc and there’s no guarantee that you will do better in calc simply because you took pre-calc at Binghamton before it.

You’ll need to take the course, so just do it.

micro is pretty easy, i wouldn’t really worry about that class. Calc I can be a pain, depending on whether you get a good teacher or not. usually, if you get a teacher who doesn’t speak english well (which happens a lot in math classes), you’re going to have a hard time.

If your algebra skills are decent, you should be fine for both classes.
