Calendar

How is MIT's calendar? What type of system Are they on? How long of breaks do they, the students, get for Winter Vacation, thanksgiving, and spring break? When do they start and when do the end classes

Here is MIT's calendar for the 2006-2007 school year:

<a href="http://web.mit.edu/registrar/www/calendar.html%5B/url%5D">http://web.mit.edu/registrar/www/calendar.html</a></p>

I found it by going to web.mit.edu and putting "academic calendar" into the search window.

The month of January is a break between semesters one and two, but many students return to campus for IAP (Independent Activities Period: 2006 info here.

MIT is on what's considered a 4-1-4 academic calendar: two semesters of 4 months each, plus a January independent activities period.

MIT starts school each year right after Labor Day and finishes either one or two weeks before Memorial Day.

In response to "how's MIT's calendar", I think that it is excellent -- students get either a three-day or a four-day weekend each month, and the break in January is just long enough to recharge batteries between semesters.
