I need to know the dates of MIT's Thanksgiving break for 2007 in order to book flights. The calendar says that we only have thursday and friday off, is that true? Can I leave before then?

I assumed we had classes that Wednesday, so I booked my flight kinda late that night so I could go to class and still make it home for Thanksgiving. I could be wrong, though, I guess...

My kid hasn't ever come back from MIT for Thanksgiving break because it's just too short a break. His classes haven't ever ended before Wed. afternoon, and with only Thurs/Fri off, it wasn't worth it.

There seem to be some website problems tonight on the MIT site, but the Thanksgiving break is Thurs-Sun, Nov. 22-25. Once the website gets better, you can find the 2007-2008 academic calendar here.

you don't HAVE to go to class -_^

not that i want to promote anything like that around here, but plenty of ppl i know just skip their wednesday classes (especially if they're freshmen), assuming they don't have any tests. i've also known ppl who just skip the entire week for thanksgiving

Well, you can leave whenever you want.

A very large number of people leave at some point on Tuesday. Some professors cancel class on Wednesday, although many still hold class with dramatically decreased attendance. Mostly professors are very understanding about people being absent on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, although one year I had professors who were jerks and scheduled a test for that morning.

I had a wednesday afternoon HASS lecture cancelled that week last year. I can't recall my other classes, but I think one other one was ultimately cancelled, and I skipped the other two.

Missing a day isn't the end of the world... if you're doing that on a regular basis though, it could have some slightly more serious effects. :P
