Does anyone know how Calgrant is supposed to work for Stanford?
I just got my Calgrant package, and it says I have to contact the Office of Financial Aid at my university to work it out with them. How does the grant factor into Stanford's financial aid package?

i remember reading about this during admissions... it's supposed to be supplemental to the aid that Stanford offers you, so it's basically supposed to be extra $$. even though i have the nicest calgrant of anyone i know and it's only like 6K

What exactly is a Calgrant? Is it money you get from the state for good grades? If we have a state awarded scholarship from another state, can we use it at Stanford? (Or does it depend what the scholarship awarder allows?)

calgrant is a state awarded scholarship based on financial need/gpa

im not sure about other states' scholarships, but calgrant can only be used for californian universities

i really hope the calgrant is supplementary purplerain! that'd be really awesome

This link http://www.stanford.edu/dept/finaid/current/2_1_apply.html seems to suggest that Stanford considers it part of the normal aid package, and has financial aid recipients apply for it to that end. That would be in contrast to external scholarships, which Stanford has offset the family/student contribution.
