California Blue and Gold

I have a daughter who will be attending UC Davis next year and will be applying for the California Blue and Gold program. I am a little concerned due to our family income being 80600 and the qualifications that I am reading is that the income level needs to be 80k or below. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of someone in this situation being just 600 over the income level stated? Thank you

I don’t know the answer to your question, but there are Cal Grants available for families with incomes between $80k and $120k. Might be worth a look.

My mom has talked to the FA office at Davis about this, and they’ve told us that you don’t apply for it, when you send in your FAFSA they evaluate if you qualify for it and just give you different mixes of grants and scholarships available to get you to the amount that they can give you and think that you will need, I’m sorry but we make less than 80k so we didn’t ask about the other part of your question or I’d tell you what I knew. For CAL Grant, make sure you send in the GPA verification on time, my friend didn’t and lost out on $13,000 for it. I hope this was helpful and maybe I’ll be seeing your daughter at Davis next year, good luck!

Right, you don’t apply for Blue and Gold. If you qualify, you get the promise fulfilled.

It’s not a grant, it’s a “promise”. If you qualifed, you’d get the aid (likely a Cal Grant or UC grant) for about $13k or so.

Has your D gotten a FA pkg from Davis? If so, what’s in it?

I don’t think Cal Grants are for those with incomes between $80k - $120k. No one who earns over $92,600 can get a Cal grant (for a family of 6+)

Brian…what is your family size? You may qualify for a Cal Grant due to family size.

Thank you to everyone for the information! I appreciate it and have a much better understanding of what I will be experiencing next year.
