Anyone else get a call from UCLA today? (I think it was a student.)

The girl pretty much asked me questions about whether or not I will choose to attend and what my deciding factors will be. However, I was kind of put off by her TERRIBLE communication skills. I literally felt like I was carrying the conversation when she's the one that's trying to convince me to attend... I wonder how UCLA chooses these reps because mine did not do a good job.

Either way, it's not like I'm going to not attend UCLA because of this one rep but I was just surprised UCLA has her making these calls. Anyone else have a similar (or better) experience?

Just got one too, haha. Super awkward… I wonder if we got the same person. And whether they’re calling EVERY person who got in because wow would that be a lot of calls to make.

The student who called may be on work study and communication skills are not her/his greatest asset.
Many colleges contact accepted students after acceptances have been sent out.
I don’t think UCLA has a big problem if many accepted students do not matriculate. They have a waiting list with other students willing and ready to fill those shoes.

At the beginning:
Her: I just want to help you through the college selection process.
After I told her that currently I am most likely not going to UCLA because of the out of state cost, that I practically got no aid, and that I’m still waiting for USC:
Her: Do you think you’ll get more aid from USC?
Me: Well, yeah. Probably more grants.
Her: Yeah, that’s understandable since they’re private. Ok, Goodnight.
Me: ._.

I’m a CA admit and the awkwardness of this call not only met, but exceeded the level of awkwardness conveyed by other posters. I told her that I had just been accepted to Berk and was kind of 50/50 for la and Berk. Then the call got more awkward by her qquestioning my chosen major of physics and telling me that she thought it would be more fun to be an astronaut. If you’re thinking that this sounds random its because IT WAS. I am honestly surprised (and somewhat turned off) by the seeming desperation to attract students; and at least utilize someone with some charm/social skills! Sorry to rant, but it was super weird.

I got one on Monday. The guy calling was pretty helpful and informative…now I really kind of want to go to UCLA. I’m OOS by the way (so expensive)!
