how hard was it? i kno barrons is supposed to be harder, but how much harder is it compared to the real test? thanx i need to do well!!!!

Much easier than AP if you have taken that. Just study for those T/F/CE questions and you should be fine.

:)

It wasn't hard at all. Just some questions in the T/F/CE are really weird and mention really specific points, like Rutherford's experiment with gold [I think, last year]

it's not too bad if you manage your time well and don't spend too much time in the T/F/CEs. If you can do the T/F/CEs and not miss very many, you should be good.

I got a 5 on the test and a 770 on the SAT II without really studying much extra. Just use common sense.

What is T/F/CE

you have 2 statements and er.. i forget. but ce means that the second is a correct explanation of the first. both may be true but one might not explain the other. or both may be false. or one may be true and one is false.

what are some recommended books to use when studying for the sat 2 chem? Thanks

What topics would I need to study for the chem sat II if I have only taken the first semester of AP Chem?

If first semester means first half of book...? I think nuclear, equilibrium, applications of eq, buffers, free energy, thermochem, quantum mechanics, emr, and remember small details that you think won't matter but they will.

inseniarator.. the other half of the book :)

different teachers cover different topics.. just get an SATII book and see what you didn't study

I got an 800 on SAT II Chem. Used Kaplan, took some practice tests. I ended up knowing more than I thought I did. My school doesn't offer AP Chem so I ended up studying topics I didn't know out of book. Practice T/F/CE so you don't obsess over them.

I got a 750 on the Chemistry SAT II. First off, it's not as easy as everyone says it is to get 750+... (I actually thought I got an 800 when I walked out...)

Barron's is OKAY, but spends too much time on trivial topics (quarks? Nuclear, which there wasn't even ONE question on)

PR is EXTREMELY GOOD... even if you only have a few days left. I mostly used PRinceton Review... (Went from a 650-750)

Would you recommend Kaplan then, Gouda? I have the book and I'm going to be studying it for about 2 hours/day for 3 weeks before the test (I'm taking it in December). I already took Chem last year and I'm in AP Chem right now. Would you say that I should be able to get an 800?

I thought the Kaplan review prepared me well for the test and the practice tests were pretty realistic. However, I didn't look at other prep books, so I don't know how it compares. I actually think I probably got a little lucky--after the test I thought maybe a 760 or so. But if you remember the material from an AP Chem class and study you should probably be able to get 800 (keep in mind curve on SAT IIs is much more generous than SAT I).

I didn't AP Chemistry and I was only in a regular class (my high school sucks by not offering any Hornor or AP science class). I took it this June, and got a 800 (I thought I would score a 750). I would say it is not as hard as some peopel think. But you really need to do understand the T/F/CE question since some of them are tricky. Personally, I feel that the Princeton Review helped me a lot; and it is unnecessary to read over trivial details on Barron's.

if you think you need to study for it, and you have like 2 weeks before the test, get the barrons SAT II Chem book, if you can read even like 80% of that book and understand it, garaunteed 750+, even if you haven't taken advanced chemistry before. Of course, Barrons does tend to go overboard a bit with excessive info., it still really helps. The test itself is pretty easy, the onyl thing that you should really have worries about is the T/F/CE, those can get alittle confusing at times unless you know exactly what's going on. Good luck, and don't worry, it's kinda easy. Yeah, actually sunset is right, go with princeton review, that's a better bet if your taking it on the 8th of october.
