Calling all south asians applying to pton!!!

<p>Indian/American/Briton from London</p>

<p>Indian-American (AP) born in Chi-town, IL area applyin princeton</p>

<p>you understand indonesian? thats awesome! do u eat indonesian food? lol</p>

<p>wow didnt expect thse many responses!!
yea actually anybody can be a part of it as long as they r international cos we intls are judged by a different parameter altogether
but anandale,i think they judge according to our ethnice status:
what i heard was that they keep a fixed amount or quota from each country or region(for instance 4 from india, not really sure abt that figure tho) and accordingly choose the applicants cos they want to maintain diversity remeber....if they judged as if all of us were equal ,then there would be a disproptionate number of asians(including chinese, indians ,japanese)
so if a student is from iceland with a SAT score of 1270 and thats like the highest in that area,i guess that applicant is in cos of her ethnic heritage....
so we indians i think will be competing with eachother...lol:P</p>

<p>]</p>

<p>"as long as they r international cos we intls"</p>

<p>most of people who replied are not internationals....</p>

<p>most of us are Americans with South Asian heritage...</p>

<p>so my question is that would American desis be compared with South Asians from Pakistan/India and other countries....or are the internationals in the league of their own?</p>

<p>FOUR indians per year? that means there are only SIXTEEN Indian-Indians on campus...that number seems ridiculously low. I guess all the other desis I saw were Americans, and four only applies to internationals applying from there</p>

<p>P.S. I SERIOUSLY doubt that Pton has SPECIFIC quotas...if they do, then that's just messed up!</p>

<p>They say that they dont have any quotas but to be realistic, I dont think we will see 10+ india-indians get in. The rate is VERY low...(300+ applicants to princeton and between 4 and 7 get in) so its horrible to be in the indian pool, as it is with other pools (ie. korean, chinese, etc.)</p>

<p>What about Filipino? Is that a bad pool or no?</p>

<p>yea true call the cops2.... and i hope to god that wat annandale feels is true....lol i know its a messed up admission processs....(specially after getting rejected by LSE the other day,all i can say is that the admission process is really messed up)</p>

<p>heya,</p>
