Calling all UCSB Transfers 2011

Hey Guys, so I'm transferring to UCSB this Fall. I'm making this post for all of my fellow UCSB transfers so we can talk and get in contact and stuff before school starts. Are any of you doing transitions over the summer? What majors are you in?

BTW…I’m Communications. :)

Hey, I’m a comm major as well!
UCSB wasn’t my first choice at the beginning, but after visiting the campus and talking to a few students, I’m 75% sure that’s where I want to go. Still going to wait and hear from UCSD though before making a decision.

If I do end up going, don’t think I’ll do a summer transition. Btw, have you finished the pre-comm courses?

I’d still like to hear back from ucsd but I’m 80% sure I’m transferring to ucsb. I’m a bio major and I don’t think I’ll be doing transitions over the summer. A lot of my friends already go there so I visit a couple times a month since I’m only an hour away. The only thing I’m worried about is figuring out which classes I need to take. Transferring semester to quarter units can be tricky. Are any of u planning on meeting with someone to figure out your schedule?

I’m a UCSB transfer but I’m not doing transitions because they have no family housing :frowning:
Can’t wait though!!!

Transfer, anthropology major. Not doing transitions–I’m working at Sea World instead. Really excited about going though :3

I believe they help you pick out your classes at orientation–or you can talk to someone. Orientation starts on August 8th and lasts for a few days. I’m sure the quarter starts on the 18th of September though.

@thisisu: No I haven’t finished the pre-comm courses. My ccc only offered one of them. I think I’ll just focus on those for one semester and then I’ll probably move on to the full-on Communications program.

@cannotwait: I think, since I’m doing transitions, I have to meet with my major adviser to go over courses that I have to take during summer. Maybe she will help out with my Fall classes also? IDK. lol

I’m a UCSB transfer psychology major and planning on doing transitions for the second summer session. I’m really excited it sounds like it will be fun! does anyone know what they’re doing for housing yet?

I really can’t decide on housing. Living in the residence halls would be a great way to meet a lot of people and it’s on campus, but I’m not sure if I could share a bathroom with so many people and live in such a small room. The apartments, on the other hand, are more spacious and in iv, but farther from campus. I’m so indecisive!!

Econ and Accounting transfer, can’t wait to move in and PARTY, oh and attend classes as well I guess…

But I gotta finish out this semester strong, can’t risk getting rescinded.

Economics!!!

Probably headed to UCSB, might appeal my rejection to UCLA though. I was thinking of doing summer session. Is there two quarters of it? Someone here mentioned two sessions. Also I was thinking living on campus, but might do off campus apartments. Wow I’m really indecisive…

Oh I’m a Pre-Political Science major.

To any other SB transfers who are on facebook:

Redirecting...;

Yeah there’s two separate summer school sessions I think, but I’m indecisive about housing too! I’m from San Diego, and I only know like one person already at UCSB so I’m thinking housing on campus just to meet people. I heard there’s a transfer floor in one of the dorms so I think I’m leaning towards that

I already applied for housing. Hopefully I don’t get stuck in a suite of 6 people. Sounds like a horrible bathroom situation since I like to stand in the shower for an hour because I like the way warm water feels on my skin…

Yea, pray you’re not my roommate.

“It is against policy for residents or guests under the age of 21 to be present where alcohol is present.”

“Residents and guest who are 21 or older may consume alcohol (as provided by state law) within the privacy of their own
room or suite.”

So… If I’m boozing it up my roommate who might be underage has to leave? Ahaha, that’s funny and totes not gonna’ happen. It would suck if you’re in a hall with a goody-goody who tells the staff on you for giving someone alcohol.

I’ve heard there are a couple of 3 week summer sessions and two 6 week summer sessions. I’m defiantly going to go to the second 6 week session. I’m gonna live in the residence halls at least for my first year. Since I don’t really know anybody at the school I think that the summer session and living in the dorms will make it easier to make friends and stuff. Manzanita looks pretty nice, but I have heard conflicting things about which res. hall is better.

About the whole sharing the bathroom thing and the small room… I think I’m gonna keep reminding myself this is the college experience. lol. Except I’m determined to have a single room.

O, and I guess this group has been set up. I think it’s a good way to meet some peeps before school.

Has anyone decided on staying in an apartment or dorm? I figured a dorm would be a great way to meet people but then again i dont want to deal with freshman…sorry but its the truth.

has anyone else submitted their housing application yet?
