<p>Has anyone used the Wachovia Bank (Wells Fargo?) that is on campus? We are wondering if it would help him to have a local bank.</p>
<p>It’s helpful to have a Wells Fargo account because of the convenience but it’s definitely not necessary. I don’t have one personally and know a bunch of other people who don’t. You can withdraw money using any debit card on campus with a slight charge (I think it may even be reinbursed with some banks). Really I think they only reason you would need the Wells Fargo account is if you deposit a lot of checks (but with Work Study you can get direct deposit pretty easily too so even that is a nonfactor!). There are some other banks that are pretty close to campus – Bank of America is within walking distance and there is a PNC somewhat close too.</p>
<p>We use our local bank here in Massachusetts and he just uses his debit card as needed.</p>
