when do we get to know about 'em? 'In the summer' is a pretty vague term!

which are considered to be the better jobs? the ones in library or dining services??

I don't care either way since both of them involve working for my two great passions :D

But I heard that jobs in the dining services pay well and help you to make really good friends

Yeah, I wouldn't mind getting a job in dining services. It's supposed to be a lot of fun, which I'd definitely be more into than working in a library or something.

Yeah, but with a library job you have the luxury of being able to just sit and do your work with only occasionally being disrupted to help someone with a book or something, so it's like being paid to study in the library :D

But there's little social interaction (:() Dining services, while probably loud, is a fun way to be around and get to know people (:))

i so wanna get a job at j.crew on nassau street...

Do they give clothing discounts to students? How about student employees? ;)

And is Nassau Street still considered a "campus" job?

JCrew gives a 10% discount to students who show the puid. Working on Nassau street does not count as a campus job, and unless all of the money that you make you plan to put to use buying clothes from JCrew or wherever else you work, I'd recommend getting an on-campus job. They pay better (between $7-11 per hour) and are more flexible. Another job that can be worth it is at the U-store, where you get free text books.

back to the original question - when do we get to hear about our jobs?

gah U-store here i come......(i hope)

i don't think any of the 09-ers know, any older tigers here?

U-Store would be cool. Just being around all the Princeton paraphernelia would be heavenly :)

And again, later this summer, sucharita. I think it comes either with or a little after our rescol/roommate assignments. crosses fingers and hopes for best

so when do the res col/roommate assignments come? :p

mid-July :)

wow - thats more than a month away :(

Thanks for the info ec. Does the U-Store give free text-books as remuneration, or is that a perk on top of the actual pay? How many free textbooks because that must be a lot for all your courses!

Also: what are the perks of the other on campus jobs?

Dining = free points?
Library = ?
Admissions office =

:) :) :) admissions office perks :) :) :)

I think dining is better. I would go crazy to stay all day in a library and arange books, catalogue them and not even have the time to read them. I also think it would be more tiring then a dining job. At a dining job you can rest your mind, while at the library you would just stress your brain with useless book numbers and catalogues.

But then again, whichever pays better!

the u-store loans you free books for all of your classes. You just have to give them back at the end of the semester or whatever, which saves you the pain of trying to resell your text books as well. This is on top of a pretty decent hourly wage.

Dining hall jobs suck-- everyone hates them and tries to switch. Its gross and a lot of work, for not that much money. Some of the best jobs are in the rare books department of the library

thx ec1234!
i am disaster prone around kitchen/dining halls neways, so even if they give me one of tht job - they will end up firing me soon :o

i hope tht i get library...will give me some time to do all the homework...

speaking of clumsyness....., if you get fired, can you apply for another job?
