My daughter got her notification that she has been assigned a WCR permit. Not sure what this means as far as where she can park. Can anyone help? She will be living on campus in Mosher, and I didn't think she would be close to her dorm, but just wanted to know which lots she can use...

[Waitlist and Assignment Examples](<a href=“Page Not Found”>Page Not Found)

According to this page, she can park in the West Campus Garage (15-25 minute walk from Mosher) and leave and reenter on gamedays without paying. If she signed up for the Southside garage or a nearby lot, she is probably on the waitlist for it and will be notified if a space opens up for her. Waitlist positions can be found on transportation.tamu.edu

WCR = West Campus Resident. Mosher is south campus.

Similar question: my son received notice of SS (Southside?). He will be at Mosher also, so question is: Is Southside one of the lots where they must move their cars the day before a home game?

Also, any pointers about signing up for which dining plans? My son tries to eat healthy, but he eats frequently, quite a bit at certain meals, and thinks he has to eat lots of protein. Any of the plans sound right for that type of eater?
Also, when do we have to commit to a certain dining plan?

Southside Garage (SS) users don’t need to move their cars. Most visitors to A&M and those coming in town for football or other sports, use the West Campus Garage and those lots, so only kids with permits for those areas have to worry about parking. I had a WCG/WCR permit last year and I did not have to move my car in or out during special events/gamedays

I would recommend the minimal-costing plan first, many kids tend to get large meal plans that don’t get fully used, and toward the end of both semesters, they’ll raid the on campus eateries and convenience stores to spend hundreds of dollars worth of meals because they’d expire. In addition to this, you can add more meals whenever you want, but you can’t really refund them.

You aren’t required to have a meal plan, (freshman entering Fall 2012 are, according t [Frequently Asked Questions: University Dining](Dine On Campus)) so you never have a deadline to commit. Generally speaking, whenever you purchase a plan, you can use it. Keep inmind, one meal plan purchase lasts one semester.

As for your son’s eating habits, there is a good variety of types of food to be found on campus. At Sbisa or Duncan, one meal use amounts to all-you-can-eat. I have spent a few hours everytime I’m there to down as much food as I can Healthy food is available; there are a few salad bars and healthier options around, and if you want, you can always ask for changes in an order (I used to omit meat in burritos so I could ask for extra veggies) especially because many places assemble/make the food right in front of you.

I always recommend getting the smallest dining plan. You can always add on meals or dollars, but you can’t go lower…you can carry over a small amount of dollars to Spring semester, but not your meals. You lose all at the end of spring semester.
