Can a NON-drinker survive at Cornell (or any University)?

Ithaca isn't colder than Boston, don't worry. I think there's more rain though.

maguo1: Since you advocated having an older friend buy you an alcoholic drink I believe that you're advocated the breaking of two laws...something I really wouldn't post online. Besides, some people don't drink for most of college (an HS also) because it's, well, illegal.

who...cares?

Frankly it isn't that hard to keep away from alcohol at parties...

i went to my first party yesterday ( or school finished a week back...so it was like an end of the year party)...many people arnd me were having alcoholic drinks (some weird stuff call 'takila' apart from the usual vodka and beer...but there were, at the same time, many of us who didn't drink (me, bec i find the smell obnoxious)

chill guys...parties and boozing take place everywhere...that doesn't mean u should never go out and party...just be responsible, enjoy the dancing and u ought to be fine

btw HiImAnAlcihilic...u have very 'spanks'y tendencacies...r u sure i don't know u? ;D

um arjun, do you mean tequila... hahahaha

i guess...they were sayin somethin kike 'takila...takila'

oh, yeah then, i'm pretty sure it was "tequila"

btw HiImAnAlcihilic...u have very 'spanks'y tendencacies...r u sure i don't know u? ;

;)

Hahaha takila, it's tequila, that's some shiesty stuff.

"-hang out with people who don't drink (I hate to say it, but 99% of these non-drinking groups, who go bowling and play Scrabble on Friday nights are considered extremely uncool)"

Haha, I've been bowling...and sledding, and I've been to the teaching barn many nights (animal science major)...hmm, played board games (Taboo), watched movies, gone partying sober or to drink...my experience is that people are pretty mature about it if you choose not to, however I do have a friend that refuses to and he usually avoids the common room on nights when people would normally bug him to go out :p

and then there was the time we were walking back to West (I'm a soph) from Appel and I happened to say I had never been drunk before (at that point I hadn't) and a passing freshman guy loudly said, "Loser." Or something. I didn't care enough to remember, but it was pretty immature. ;)

here is a reason to drink: ithaca is cold...alcohol will warm you up. haha : )

It actually just makes you feel warmer and puts you more at risk for hypothermia/death ;) lol.

IAmAnAlcoholic, i've laughed at the majority of your posts in this thread. we'll be friends if i end up at cornell haha.

thats how the homeless survive the winter

haha, sweet, I can help ruin your life/show you what Cornell has to offer in terms of parties

Can't wait for college! Is it easy to buy beer underaged at Cornell?

its easy to buy beer anywhere...

btw ur comin to Cornell??? i thght u were a Harvard fan (i gather that from a previous cross of swords we've had over Cornell vd Harvard)

if you worry about not being able to survive college because of drinking, you have a weak 'anti-alc' constitution, in my opinion. there will clearly be a non-drinking crowd (a huge one), so unless you're unsure about drinking...you wont have a problem...and drunk people won't bother you.

and if you're in between there's always smirnoff ice.

haha so true, smirnoff is amazinggggggg

i'm thinking about having everyone over for the world's biggest rookie party....

posters with drinking game rules....trashcans everywhere...streamers... chips

this could work.

ohhh i clearly had a question for alcoholic...

i was thinking about the hookup process, being that North campus is so far from the frats i went to when i partied there. is it just a long walk back to the dorm? i've never had to leave the same party house so i'm in the dark.

So the rumors of drunk students hunting you down and force feeding you liquor are untrue? baffled
