social life for someone who isn't in to partying?

for those of us who arent in to partying every weekend and hate the taste of alcohol, is it possible to have a social life at cornell? im not looknig to sit in a library all day but i dont want to party. is there a group in the middle?

A lot of people at Cornell don't party every weekend. I'm pretty sure that during the first semester everyone will be wanting to go out every weekend because it's a new experience. But there are other things to do. There are always movies showing at Cornell cinemas in uris or willard-straight every weekend. There are hockey games to go to. There is ice skating on most mights during the weekend. You can always stay in and watch a movie with some friends, play video games, sleep(I guarantee you that will be something you think about), or anything else. I really don't think that I've ever been bored during the weekends. Also, if you don't drink and are somewhat religious, there are campus fellowships that have group meetings during the weekends and have activities afterwards.

O there are always things to do instead, even at small colleges. PS you get used to the taste/it always kinda tastes bad haha...not sure which one to say cuz they are both true lol. There's always stuff to do besides drink tho...

you can always have fun at parties without drinking...kinda

you can do stuff like this:

YES, there is most definitely a social life for you if you aren't into partying. Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, a huge number of students here don't drink. (In fact, in my entire hall of ~70 students, no more than half go out drinking and partying at frats on the weekends.) Lots of people don't drink and have a lot of fun on the weekends. The partiers just get a lot of attention, I guess, but don't pay attention to it.

I'm a hotelie and I haven't even gone for a single frat party since I came here last semester and my life has been nothing short of fantastic. Don't worry, Cornell's the kind of place where you can have crazy fun with friends doing the most random things.

So in short, there is definitely a group "in the middle" who just like to have fun, the dry way :)

Sweet............

It really depends on you. If you're not into partying, that cuts out like 75% of what you can really do around here. If you put some effort, you can find things to do, but you're definitely going to be finding yourself doing the same **** over and over after a few months. I was worried about this when I first came up here, but people made all of those suggestions like acapella groups, hockey games, student clubs, outdoor activities, etc. I thought that would be fine, but I found myself not giving a crap about most of that stuff.

You can always go to a party n just dance, hang out, i donno drink energy drinks. Or just sip a beer if ur not totally against drinking. Could always just drink a little and have as much fun as everyone else w/ a little buzz going.

Soooo... the moral of the story is….parteeeeeyyy…JK lol. you don’t have to necessarily drink to have a good time, you could just go to a party and laugh at the drunken state of other people(That’s always amusing..heh) …I don’t think it should be overly difficult to obtain a social life…if you’re looking for one!

Lots of stuff to do at Cornell, don't worry about it.
