Inside of my personal statement essay, I wrote about my life as a Mexican American, about the racism in my school and about how a non-profit organization has helped me overcome by own burdens. I had teachers crying over it! I tried to stay true to myself and to who I am today!

But i must say that I did include a qoute and this is what it is:

“Study a lot, so that you acn learn to dominate the technique that allows you to dominate nature”- Che Guevara,

In my essay meaning making a difference, through activism!

The title of my Essay was " The Window that Helps Overcome Burdens"-

I do not know if they will take a position based on the author of the qoute!

Don't worry about it. Che is a very famous political figure and I doubt that they would draw terrible conclusions about you just because of the author. If anything, they be impressed on how you related it to your personal statement/within it.

Which essay was this in re to, or was this the Common App essay in re to "other"?

The essay with the quote was my personal Statement essay.

I think it sounds really interesting and shouldn't be detrimental. You didn't exactly quote Hitler. Your quote is also very relevant to your point; I wouldn't worry. I was just curious which essay this was (because Barnard's were so structured). For my PS I wrote about the value of iconoclasm and quoted Emerson and Faulkner, less controversial figures, but still quotes. How did you title your essay? I wasn't able to.

chiming in here with froghorn: I do not think that will be detrimental to your application at all.

I titled my essay " The window that Helps Overcome Burdens"

Burden= inequality, recism, oppression,
Window= education,unity, activism
Overcome=my goals, me, the outcomes of myself
