Can anyone break down this Financial aid Situation?

<p>Wild, yes, you can certainly ask about your status if you live with your aunt. But don’t be disappointed if the school says NO. As the link shows, your parents must establish a domicile in NC for you to establish instate residency.</p>

<p>We have relatives in CA, ME, MA, OH, MD, NY, NJ, PA, NH, but WE do not live in ANY of these states. Our kids were not entitled to instate status in any of these states because they had aunts or uncles living there…even if they had resided with these aunts and uncles prior to enrolling in college.</p>

<p>Please do not get your hopes up about this. Yes, inquire, but just don’t be surprised if the answer is NO.</p>

<p>If your parents move to NC, then after they have lived there for 12 months you can petition to change your status. If they are still in OH, you cannot get in state status until you meet the criteria for independence ( married, veteran, orphan, etc.)</p>
