Can anyone chance me for nyu CAS/gallatin?

NYU has been my top choice for so long now and I keep getting mixed answers.

  • GPA: 4.0 (my school doesn't do unweighted)
  • act: 31
  • classes: my school doesn't offer many AP's, but I have taken AP World, APUSH, AP Macroeconomics, and AP chemistry. I was taking AP statistics, but my counselor informed me that NYU only wants pre-calc, so I dropped it for pre-calc honors. I've taken 22 honor classes, probably like 4-5 have not been either because the class was full or my school didn't offer honors in that course.

Science: All four years
Freshman year: Living environment honors, lab, biology research
Sophomore year: Chemistry honors, lab, applied chemistry (basically bioresearch 2.0)
Junior year: Physics honors, lab, human diseases
Senior year: AP chemistry, lab (didn’t have enough room in my schedule to add another science)

Math: All four year - algebra, geometry, trig, pre-calc honors

Social studies and English, four years

Language, four years: Latin freshman year (wanted to pursue, but my school shut down this department), Spanish 1-3

  • essay: pretty excellent if I do say so myself. edited by a Harvard grad, gotten a ton of input on it.
  • activities: all revolve around the sciences, volunteer tutoring, and a few other miscellaneous clubs that spark my interest such as girl up.

my main school of choice is CAS, however, I plan on minoring in a business related topic (most likely marketing/economics). I thought that Gallatin would be great for combining the two. Thanks sm for reading

oh, key information, I’m white lol.

oh also, forgot to add my ranking and rec letters

ranking: top 10%, 70-80/1000 graduating kids (my school is huge) from my transcript grade. however, for my senior year, i’m ranked 8/1000.

rec letters: Harvard grad, apush teacher, human disease teacher. all should be excellent.

anyone??? i really need input

hey whats up Im in CAS right now and from the looks of it you have a good chance of getting in- as long as you make it crystal freaking clear what your intentions would be in gallatin. in gallatin you can basically make up a major, but they won’t admit you unless you can prove in those essays that you have a well defined and concrete plan for all four years. If you want more time to figure it out, I’d definitely say you have a good shot at CAS. I got in with a 32 ACT and 4.3 gpa, and i’d say i’m about average here. Not trying to humble brag but i just thought it would be some helpful anecdotal evidence. I think from this its safe to say you have a hell of a shot. Focus on those essays! p.s. that ranking is hella good, congrats!

thank you so so much for your feedback! I really appreciate it

do you mind explaining to me what exactly the liberal studies core program entails? I’m honestly confused as to how it runs
