I am an international applicant from India and my parents have a budget of $40k a year after including loan. Can I afford to study at University of Wisconsin-Madison??

The current “cost of attendance” is about $48k, but you would need to allow more for the added cost of international flights and yearly tuition increases.

The UW-Madison College of Letters & Science scholarship application for incoming freshmen opens on November 1. However note that very few scholarships go to non-Wisconsin residents.

If UW turns out to be unaffordable, a decent alternative is the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Its total price tag is just under $38,000.

OOS tuition increases for UMTC will be ramped up over the next few years. Goal will be more like UW-Madison’s by year 4 or so.
