It’s been a month and a half since I’ve arrived USA. I came here in F1 visa but I didn’t go to the college since the tution fees were too high for me. So that automatically made my visa terminate and here I am, living illegally. Some of my friends suggested me to apply for political asylum ( I’m from nepal and there has been some cases that has been approved) which through which I can get my ssn and work permit after certain days and if approved, i can apply green card. So I’m thinking about that too. But I’m desperate to go to college. They say I can go to college after I receive my ssn. But as per my information, it takes at least 150 days and I can’t wait for that long time. So here are some few questions I want to ask you that I’ll be very much grateful to your reply ;
- As its been only a month and without ssn, can i go to college?
- Can i apply to any of the scholarship programs?
- Will it be beneficial if I applied for political asylum case?
- If I applied for political asylum case and if i get to go to the college before getting my ssn, will it hindrance my later processes?
- And finally I want to know how much of a risk is it going to college illegally? Thank you
