Can I apply to college even though I'm now illegal after getting my applied universities i20 termina

It’s been a month and a half since I’ve arrived USA. I came here in F1 visa but I didn’t go to the college since the tution fees were too high for me. So that automatically made my visa terminate and here I am, living illegally. Some of my friends suggested me to apply for political asylum ( I’m from nepal and there has been some cases that has been approved) which through which I can get my ssn and work permit after certain days and if approved, i can apply green card. So I’m thinking about that too. But I’m desperate to go to college. They say I can go to college after I receive my ssn. But as per my information, it takes at least 150 days and I can’t wait for that long time. So here are some few questions I want to ask you that I’ll be very much grateful to your reply ;

  1. As its been only a month and without ssn, can i go to college?
  2. Can i apply to any of the scholarship programs?
  3. Will it be beneficial if I applied for political asylum case?
  4. If I applied for political asylum case and if i get to go to the college before getting my ssn, will it hindrance my later processes?
  5. And finally I want to know how much of a risk is it going to college illegally? Thank you

No one on CC will advise you to do something illegal, OP. Why did you get all the way to the US before figuring out you couldn’t afford your school? And why didn’t you return home once you did figure it out? These are serious questions – telling us what happened may be useful. However, beginning from a position where you are not in the country legally will not help you in your question for a SSN/green card.

I don’t know anything about political asylum procedures. Perhaps there is someone here who can help.
