So, a few weeks ago, I asked my last year english teacher to write me a recommendation letter for next year. We had a good relationship last year, and Im pretty sure she liked me as a student. But, now that i think about it, I don’t think she has much to write about me besides a few things, and that my biology teacher who had me for two years will be a better teacher to write me a rec. Do you think it is okay for me to tell her to “don’t” write my recommendation so that I can ask my bio teacher? I already asked another science teacher so I have to choose between my english and my bio teacher for my second rec.
In general it is not a good idea to have two teachers from the same discipline write recommendations. For that reason, you would probably be best off sticking with the English teacher.
My son asked 3 teachers to write him his recommendations. Since the guidance dept. was responsible for sending them into the schools he applied to, we left it up to her to chose the strongest recommendation. He did ask a math teacher and two social studies teachers. If a school requires two, she chose the two strongest. Since you don’t see the recommendations, it’s hard to know which ones are stronger.
