Can I get into a CSU with two Ds senior year?

I applied to four CSU’s:

-Long Beach
-San Bernardino
-Fullerton
-San Diego

I’ve always struggled with Math (I’m in honors math analysis/pre-calc right now) and I’ve been struggling with Honors Chemistry.

I just took my math final and I got an 80% on it which brought my grade up 3 percent to a 69.4, and my teacher isn’t willing to round which is understandable, so I’ll have a D+ in math analysis. The reason why my grade is so low is because I transferred out of AP Calculus BC mid-semester and transferred with an F, so I had to dig myself out of a pretty deep hole.

Chemistry I find it to be a difficult subject, and because it’s Honors, he doesn’t give us any extra credit apart from the Wheel of Fish (I got 20 points from that already) so I have a 68% right now.

I have my my last test of the semester (chapter 16) and even if I aced it, I’m not completely sure I’ll be brought up enough for my teacher to round up. (He rounds up at 69.5).

I’m just wondering if I can get into any CSUs because my new assistant band director has talked to the band director at CSUSB and they’re talking scolarships and I’m scared to death I won’t get in.

I read somewhere that CSUs accept Ds, but I just want some reassurance.

Thanks,

God Bless.

If you have met the minimum a-g course requirements prior to Senior year for Math and Lab science, these 2 classes are above the minimum which will not impact your a-g course requirements. However, all CSU’s have a provisional admission contract and most require you pass with a C or better all your Senior year a-g courses. D’s or F’s are often a reason to rescind your acceptance(s).

I know the Fullerton and SDSU will ask for Mid-year senior transcripts upon enrolling so they will see these D’s. How lenient these schools will be is hard to tell. With thousands of applicants whom do maintain good grades Senior year, why should they not reconsider applicants that are unable to maintain a solid GPA? The only way you can get answers and/or reassurances is to talk to admissions at each school directly. No one on CC can give you these assurances. I would also speak with your GC to see if they could help you with the situation.

I wish you good luck and it would be helpful to post what ultimately happens with your situation so other posters in your situation can learn from it.
