I have just ended my Sophmore year at a pretty academically advanced high school in Redmond, WA. My freshman year I was in all regular classes and pretty much slacked off. I had a 3.35 GPA freshman year. During my sophmore year I took two honors classes and had a 2.95 GPA. I didn’t slack off like freshman year I just wasn’t used to the workload from my two honors classes and didn’t really know any good study habits. I struggled throughout the whole year and was pretty depressed with my outcome. I have learned a lot from my sophmore year and am planning to do really good because I think I have the potential. Next year I am taking college classes from the local college while earning high school credit (Running Start) and I am almost positive that this program is specifically a Washington thing. I am also in Key club at my school, on the golf team, participate and volunteer for Relay For Life, and a volunteer for the IACA (Iranian American Community Alliance). Because of my terrible sophmore and freshman year I am very scared that I won’t be able to have a decent GPA or get into a decent college. I’m not trying to get into a prestigious college but I’d rather not go to a community college. I plan to major in architecture and would like to attend Cal Poly Pomona. I’ve heard they aren’t very competitive but I’m not so sure I am going to get in because of my GPA. Am I reaching too far or is there a chance I get in if I do really good my junior and senior year?
Senior year grades are not considered for admission purposes but will maintain your provisional acceptance. CPP only uses grades from the a-g course requirements from 10-11th grade to determine your GPA.

You need to meet all course requirements to apply and will include Freshman and Senior classes and passing all with a C or higher.
You need to calculate your CSU capped weighted GPA at end of Junior year. Out of state students only get extra honors points for AP/IB or DE courses not Honors courses.

Once you have your CSU GPA , then you can calculate your eligibility index. You will be ranked based on EI and major.
Architecture is an impacted major so there are higher stats/requirements that are necessary to gain an acceptance. Definitely not an easy admit.

Come back next year with your stats and see where you stand. OOS students also receive no financial aid from the Cal states so expect to pay full fees at $40K/ year.
CPP is well known for their Architecture program
