Can I get into Davis?

<p>Living in California</p>

<p>I was a drug abuser and messed up my freshman year at a public high school with a misdemeanor. I ended up at a private high school with a VERY limited course list. I've made the best here but feel that my actions my freshman year really hurt my academic progress. My test scores are low compared to what I've seen and I wish I had more opportunities at my school to rack up awards and EC. </p>

Awards/Honors: Intel Excellence in Computer Science Award and 1st in Category of Computer and Mathematics at Synopsis Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship 2004, National Honor Society Member
EC: Basketball, Flag Football, Choir, Class Officer
Community Service: Work with disabled children, at historical museum, and at Valley Hospital - 200 Hrs</p>

<p>I've received guaranteed admission to UCI but I want to stay closer to home and go to Davis. What are my chances to get into Davis on a scale of 1-100?</p>

<p>Your scores and GPA are really good for UCD. You are in at Davis, definitely. Plus, you can talk about you problems freshman year, in your essay and discuss how you changed during your high school career.</p>

<p>You should also consider applying to UCB and UCLA. I think you have a decent shot at all UC's.</p>

<p>I think you have a really good chance of getting into UC Davis (99%). But you should also consider some of the other UCs (like LA, SD, and Berkeley).</p>

<p>concur with above. def. apply to ucla and top ucs, sat2 might need a boost for ucb. gpa is good enuf but won't shoo u in. the drug abuse thing is an EXCELLENT essay topic, and the intel thing is nationally recognized and u can show u going from drugs to intel. check your coursework to see u took the hardest classes available as possible. APs too, and the scores.</p>
