This past semester, I applied to transfer to Temple University for this coming spring semester. To my surprise, I actually got in, which I wasn't expecting. I've transferred more than a few times (first at Temple's neighbor La Salle, then a community college then a SUNY school I was unhappy at and subsequently withdrew from within a month due to falling grades), my GPA isn't anything to write home about, which was a 2.9 at the end of my last semester at community college (especially with my most recent semester consisting entirely of W's), yet I overcame those odds. The only problem? I applied to SUNY New Paltz two weeks before and got in over a month before Temple. Since a response from Temple was not on the horizon, I put in an enrollment deposit, got a place to live and signed up for orientation all by the post-Christmas period, when my acceptance letter to Temple finally came in. I feel I would greatly prefer Temple over New Paltz from what I've seen of the two schools but since I am committed to New Paltz for at least one semester, I have no choice. But for fall 2014, anything is possible. I can't defer admission but I can submit a renewal application, which I already filled out and sent out earlier this week and as soon as I can send out a New Paltz transcript, I'm doing so. For anyone pro-New Paltz, I'm not against staying at all. It's just I really prefer Temple. So if I send in the renewal application (with a new personal statement explaining how much I loved Temple and the situation I'm in between them and New Paltz) plus the transcript from them, what's the likelihood I could get in for the fall?
