I have a 3.77 weighted GPA, and I recently added another class so it might be higher, I haven't checked. I got a 27 on my ACT, and I was wondering if I'm able to get into the honors college. I take mostly honors classes, I just had trouble my first two years (especially in math) but my grades have really improved. Will I be okay, or should I write a letter explaining my circumstances?

You are awfully close so you should be able to get in by petitioning. If you don’t get in immediately, then you are automatically in if you make the grades once you are at Iowa. I think you need a 3.33. If you want to live in Honors housing or do Honors First-Year seminars, then go ahead and petition. Requirements are here: [Honors Requirements for First-Year Students - Honors Opportunities - Undergraduate Admissions - The University of Iowa](http://www.uiowa.edu/admissions/undergrad/honors-opps/frst-yr-reqs.htm)

I agree. Petition and I guarantee you’ll be in. This is not an elitist honor program - they are very inclusive. But do it now! You’ll want to ask for honors housing in Daum and you cannot do so unless you’re in honors.
