Can I get into these colleges? How much does being a URM help me?

I am a half hispanic and half Indian female interested in going into Biology. I am a Junior this year, with my first ACT score being 32 (I am taking it again and hoping to increase it) and I will be taking the SAT in March. I have been in almost all AP or honors classes and have gotten almost all A’s with a couple B’s. Right now my weighted GPA is a 4.48 and my unweighted is a 3.71.

My EC’s are okay, I have over 100 hours of service volunteering at an animal shelter, I am in NHS, Model UN, and I tutor for about 8 hours every week in math. I also have played 3 years of Junior Varsity Lacrosse.

I am looking at (not going to apply to all of these) Duke, Vanderbilt, University of Michigan, and Dartmouth as my super reach schools. In reality I am looking at University of Wisconsin Madison and Michigan State as my meet schools. What are my chances of getting into my reach schools? How much does being a URM help me in applying? Thank you!!

I forgot to mention in my EC’s that I am also doing an internship over the summer at a hospital. I will be helping with a diabetes research project. Thank you!!!

I’d think you are competitive for Michigan and Wisc. Your ECs are ok but not standouts as far as I can tell. Volunteering doesn’t add much as students now do it to “look good for college” and don’t show any commitment to it. The ACT score is fine. Don’t know that you are an URM. I guess it depends upon what you mean by Hispanic. I take it when you say Indian you don’t mean Native Americas which would give you a leg up, so to speak.
