Can I get into these universities/colleges with these grades?

Im thinking of applying to NYU, Occidental, UNLV and Queens College (CUNY) from the UK.
I have 1A, 7Bs (4 of which were 3-5 marks off an A), a C and a D for my GCSEs and I am on track to A grades for my AS and attempt to get at least As in my A2 as well. I do plenty of ECs too. Whats the chance of me getting into these unis/colleges? Ivy leagues are way out of my reach but Ive heard these are great places. The colleges in NYC are my main choices. Thanks

NYU and Oxy might be harder than UNLV and CUNY Queens. Can you afford all of these places? International students rarely qualify for aid.

bump

I mean, it’s possible? That one C and D will hurt, but if you have good standardized tests, then you could get in. Your grades will be a little low for these places, so to be realistic about your chances your test scores will have to be at least proportionally higher than their averages. If you’ve got good ECs and leadership things, then you should have a chance, although you’re by no means a lock.

I know that ECs are important but doesn’t queens college not look at anything aside from academia? Plus despite the low acceptance rate im seeing people who got accepted there with like 2.8-3.0 GPA and a low SAT score, when i convert my grades i get like a 3.3 gpa. I think that Queens college and UNLV are probably the likeliest i could possibly get into.

NYU will be very tough given your GCSEs. If you can get 4 As on your AS levels, the other 3 are achievable.

Have you taken SAT or ACT? NYU is test optional for international students.

Im planning to take the SAT sometime in may

I’m sorry I don’t know much about the U.K. and their grading system, but if you know anything about the American system, UNLV’s min GPA requirement is like a 3.0. I’m not sure for how difficult it is to get in for international students, but UNLV isn’t very difficult to get into for U.S. students. I’m not saying that it’s a bad school or anything, but it is several notches down from the Ivies and even from NYU, if that gives you any perspective.

How about if I do well at the SAT? I’m doing AS and on track to As and I’m mainly planning to head to Queens CUNY will the SAT help me in my application despite my ‘gpa’?

^ Getting 4 A’s will be a big help as A levels are much harder than
AP exams. Getting 1400 plus on your SATs will also help
you get into some good schools.

Well I’m doing 3 A levels, but they’re tough ones. Maths, Physics and Computer Science. is that okay?

4 is better, but if you can get 3As in
your AS exams that will be a big help.

Ok I’ve been thinking about it but I do think the likely colleges are CUNY queens and UNLV and maybe oxy. Excluding NYU could I possibly have a chance of getting in considering I get As at a level and get at least 1500 at SATs or do I have to continue looking down the rankings? I’m an american citizen (moms a citizen) as well and I want to move from the uk lmao
