Hi! I am dead set on going to Uc Irvine but I want to major in business administration and it is a very impacted course and it is also not offered with TAG! i was wondering if i could apply to tag with business economics (which has essentially the same prerequisites) and then transfer into business economics! i am a transfer student and will have done all the prequisties for both majors after my last year at community college.
I would post your question in the UC Transfer forum: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/
Did you mean you wanted to tag with Business Economics and then transfer into Business Administration ?
From UCI’s official website:

[ul][]Applications for change of majors will be processed quarterly. Please be advised that completion of the prerequisite courses does not guarantee admission into the major; space is very limited . [ ]Junior-level standing (90 or more units).

Students who wish to declare the Business Administration major should contact The Paul Merage School of Business Undergraduate Programs Office, SB2 202, for information about change-of-major requirements, procedures, and policies. Students should carefully review criteria for each major they are considering on the UCI Change of Major Criteria website. Review of applications and selection to the major is governed by the Undergraduate Programs Committee. Admission to the major is very competitive due to limited space availability. Completion of the prerequisite courses does not guarantee admission into the major.

Limited space availability is stressed many times. Changing major into Business Administration looks competitive.
Have you considered completing Honors to Honors program?
Some entering transfer students are invited to Campuswide Honors as part of the UCI admissions process through a program called Honors to Honors. Honors to Honors is a partnership with a group of community colleges, where the community college honors director may nominate outstanding honors students applying to UCI for special consideration for selection for Campuswide Honors and for merit scholarships. A 3.7 GPA and successful completion of the community college honors program are required. (Please note that, once you have been admitted to UCI as an Honors to Honors student, your final community college transcript must reflect successful completion of the community college honors program and a 3.7 overall GPA in order to remain in Campuswide Honors.) If admitted to UCI and these requirements are met, then no supplemental application for Campuswide Honors is required. For more information on the honors curriculum requirements for transfer students, visit honors.uci.edu/transfer.
Eligible students are granted early admission to UCI (not necessarily to their first choice of major) and guaranteed admission to the prestigious Campuswide Honors Collegium . Students also receive priority consideration for a special set of merit-based scholarships.
How do I become eligible for Honors to Honors?
[ul][]Attain a UC transferable GPA of 3.7 or higher.
[ ]Submit a UC Admissions Application to UCI no later than November 30, 2020.
[]You must be confirmed by your Community College Honors Program Director as a member in good standing, and must successfully complete your Honors Program requirements by the end of the spring semester prior to transfer.
[ ]After applying to UCI, you must be verified by a UCI Admissions evaluator as having completed all transfer requirements, including the prerequisites for your major.[/ul]

thank you for all the information! I did mean bus admin! this was all very enlightening! I’m a senior in high school as well as in my last year of CC so I have no idea what is going on. I really want to go to UC Irvine as a business admin major, but I know it is competitive so I was looking to get admitted the safer way and then switch majors.
Whenever a major is more competitive for frosh or transfer admission, it should be assumed to be competitive or difficult to change into after enrolling. The reason is that the major is enrolled to the department’s full capacity, so the department cannot admit every interested student into the major, whether from the outside (frosh or transfer admission) or from being already enrolled (changing major).
