Can I get into UCSD?

Hi, I did poorly my 1st semester junior year but I want to know if it is still possible to get into UCSD. A teacher once told me that it is practically impossible to get into any UC schools with a C but I wanted to know your thoughts. Here are my scores for my past high school years. If I took a college prep class, it was either because it was mandatory or there was no honors course offered.

Freshman Year:
Semester One:
-Honors English A
-Honors World History A
-Physical Education A
-College Prep Bio A
-Honors Geometry A
-College Prep Spanish A

Semester 2:
-Honors English A
-Honors World History A
-Physical Education A
-College Prep Bio A
-Honors Geometry B
-College Prep Spanish A

Sophomore Year:
Semester One:
-Honors Spanish B
-AP World History A
-Honors Algebra II A
-Honors Chemistry A
-College Prep Piano (C/NC) A
-Honors English A

Semester 2:
-Honors Spanish B
-AP World History A
-Honors Algebra II A
-Honors Chemistry B
-College Prep Piano (C/NC) A
-Honors English A

Junior Year (where I did really really badly)
Semester One:
-AP Lang B
-AP Chemistry B
-AP Stats A
-Honors PreCal C
-APUSH B

Semester 2:
I plan to get straight As which I know sounds unrealistic, but I have a set plan on how I am going to do this. It is taking all the mistakes from last semester and approaching them in a way that I think will help. So, please assume that I will get straight As this semester. Will the C in precal mess up my chances? I plan to retake that course at a community college. Will that help?

It’s still possible to get into a UC with a C, but you’re gonna have to explain why your grades dropped in your personal statement. This doesn’t guarantee you a spot at a high-tier like Cal or LA, but as long as you keep your grades up and show you’re making the effort, you can get in. Don’t forget the SAT/ACT and EC’s, as well. Best of luck!!

Chance me back? For UCD, UCSB, UCSC, and UCSD as an English and Sociology major :)

One C will not keep you out of the UC’s, as long as your UC GPA is within the range of acceptances, and your test scores are good. That teacher is giving you incorrect information. Overall, your grades are great- it certainly won’t hurt if you can replace that grade by retaking the class, but I’m not sure it is necessary. Do well on your SAT’s and you will be OK.
