I am currently a junior and I am really in love with the College of William and Mary. I have a GPA of 3.7 right now, which will be higher once my AP and honors bumps are added at the end of the year. I am going to be editor in chief of my high school newspaper next year, and I am strong in writing so I'm hoping my essays will make my application more attractive. The thing I'm mostly worried about is that I have gotten Cs in precalculus this year. I started out with a 73, then raised to a 75, and have a 79 for third quarter. I am planning on working really hard to get at least a B for fourth quarter to show that I am conquering that problem. Do I have a chance? I am taking my SATs in a month. Will my Cs in math completely throw away my chances? Do you think I could get away with not applying early decision or should I definitely try that? HELP.

Is that 3.7 including C’s, weighted/not weighted? Makes a difference here.
Anyway, while I can’t really say from the little you’ve provided what your chances are, but an upward trend and (hopefully) only in one class should not throw your chances. I would imaging that Q1/Q2 and Q3/Q4 are averaged to get a semester grade for giving a GPA to colleges, but I can’t be sure since I’m not familiar with that system. I’d say if you get good SATs, have good ECs, and write those killer essays then you have good chance. Are you applying ED (if they do that)?

I know this sounds stupid but I’m not entirely sure if my GPA is already weighted. I know that it’s not weighted yet for this year because they do that at the end of fourth quarter. But as for the 3.7 I have now, I think that it has been weighted from previous years, but I’m not entirely sure.
