Winter break is coming up, and I have yet to finish all my applications.

My guidance counselor thinks I am done with my apps and sent all my stuff to the schools already. Is this okay? Would they think it's weird to have my files when my applications and supplements aren't even submitted?

Yes, it is ok as long as your application comes in soon afterward. The transcripts/documents take like 3-5 days to get there and get processed. So you have some leeway. Of course, try to get in your application as quickly as you can.

Why does your app need to come in soon afterward? I sent my ACT scores out to RD schools in case I don’t get into my ED schools a while ago, I’m pretty sure most of them received them in the second week of November. Some colleges sent me a Bannerweb/Somethingweb account, and I definitely haven’t gotten any threats or whatever.

My knowledge was that as long as it’s all in before the due date, it’s bueno.

My guidance counselor thinks you have to submit the common app first or else it will look bad. I call bull******. Why would schools care in what order they get information? I’m going to give him a piece of my mind tomorrow.

Lol, it seems like each counselor has different opinions. My counselor said that any order was good as long as they arrive in like a 1-2 week period.

WickedKid, my guidance counselors feel the same way, but I’m pretty sure that isn’t the case. From what I’ve been told from colleges, they store your information and begin looking at it once everything - your app, SAT/ACT scores, and transcript - are in.

The only problem I have is that some schools don’t let you submit the common app without supplements. The supplements are a a pain in the ass and I probably wont finish them until dec 30th. I’m going to tell my counselor to just mail all my crap. I really don’t think it makes a difference as to when you send your stuff in as long as it all gets in.
