help!!!! can i still apply to penn state university park?! i thought the deadline was rolling but posts on here make me think otherwise!!!

well, you can always apply. Unfortunately, you missed the priority deadline and now its only by-space.

Sorry.

Well actually, the priority deadline is tomorrow - November 30th.

oh thats good!

apply quickly everyone!

You can still apply. be advised if ur willing to go to summer term (XTRA COST-5 weeks in the summer) they will take any student with any stats. Great way to get in with no so stellar stats!

wait, if you’re accepted to summer, you end up paying more? o.O

Okay, so, question (I’m not going to have my application finished by the end of the day) -
If I have a 2310 SAT (800 CR, 740 M, 770 W), Full IB Diploma Candidate and top 10% ranking, am I still going to get in if I apply after the deadline? (PSU was my safety)

""be advised if ur willing to go to summer term (XTRA COST-5 weeks in the summer) they will take any student with any stats. “”

Absolutely false!!!

Loba, you have to pay for the summer term.

paulaturcotte; you’ll still get in with your scores. If you apply after today, admissions is just more competitive.

Taken from Penn States Undergraduate Admissions [facebook page](Redirecting...).

CBD-VERY TRUE!!!
As per the Penn State website
$1,000 per credit
$1800 room & Board
$400 for books

Its common knowledge the summer session method is a “back door” method of getting into to Penn State for less than qualified applicants

The FALSE part is ‘any student with any stats’. That is utterly and completely false. Yes, you can get in with lesser stats that those required for regular fall admittance, but they still need to be of a high enough caliber.

And it is costly, I was OOS and it was about $8k!!!

Do you know anyone rejected from summer session? whats you basis for knowing that statement is false?

Actually, I would think all of the kids that put UP first and checked off summer session and then were offered a second campus - those are the kids that did not make the cut in summer session. There was just a post on another thread of a student being rejected:

REJECTED
gpa weighted - 3.42
act -27
out of state, hawaii

oh well, this was my reach school anyway haha.

I don’t know the details of what this student put on the app, but I think they would have indicated they were accepted into summer session - so…I don’t believe that someone with any kind of stats can be accepted to summer session.

Is this still open? Will I qualify?

GPA W: 3.0
SAT 1120

secondonein—Students who put University Park as first/only choice and are then offered their choice of a “Commonwealth Campus” are thereby rejected from summer session.

The hierarchy of admission offerings (for people applying to main campus for first choice) is

1.University Park-Fall
2.University Park-Summer
3.Branch Campus

Many many people are not offered choice 2-summer, and instead only offered a branch. Go back and read through the many posts, or talk to people that have applied and have only been offered a branch–many of them checked ‘yes’ to summer session. Even people who did not check ‘yes’ to summer session are offered summer session if they are ‘borderline’.

“be advised if ur willing to go to summer term (XTRA COST-5 weeks in the summer) they will take any student with any stats”

You are implying 100% acceptance to University Park as long as you are willing to start in the summer. FALSE!
