I am a senior at one of the best public schools in the country (Bronx Science) and my courseload is

A.P Chem
A.P Calc AB
A.P Micro
A.P English Language
Linear Algebra/Differential Equations
Biology Projects (INTEL STS Research)
MAcroeconomics at a local College

My avg thus far has been a 92. However I feel this term I will get an 80 in Biology Projects (apparently my research apaper is not so good). In term os other classes I am confident I can average a 93.

WIll this 80 screw me over>

What if I publish a research paper in a journal? Will that make up for a low grade?

My grandmother is sick and as a result I ahve spent a lo of time tkaing care of her.She doesn’t live with me. Will colleges consider this?

I am worried about my grades but I am more worried about my health. My blood pressure used to be something like 120 and now its like 200/

collegehopeful, if it's just one subject and not a trend overall I don't think it's something you should worry about so much. What admissions officers dont like to see is a downward trend as classes get harder, or senioritis.

If family obligations are also a factor, ask your counselor to mention that when she writes your school report.

You have a great profile and are taking hard courses at a strong school. This is a stressful time for applicants, but you shouldn't be worrying yourself sick - apply to enough appropriate schools, do the best apps you can, and you will definitely have good choices that will help you to a bright future....

u shouldnt mention your sickness - makes u seem "weak" for the ivies - meaning that because your BP increased due to this stress, they wont think youre up to their courseload

ok yea I realzine that. My grandmother's sickness might be an exciuse.

The problem is mostly gone. I got more time for my paper due to communication errors with my mentor so I feel I can pull of an 88 (an 85 at worst).

I have to partially disagree with Ailey. Yes, college admissions officers do not want to see a totally obvious downward trend as classes get harder. That means that you shouldn't really be getting anything lower than a B at worst. More than the actual grades, colleges like to see you challenge yourself. The challenge makes up for the lower grades. Do the best you can and leave the rest up to them. One grade will not kill your chances.

Nvm guys I am back to an 80 or even a 75 lol. I have more time but my paper sucks. Apparently "I don't have the ability to think like a scientist" in the words of my teacher.
