Yet another anxious senior :P

So: declining GPA trend has left me with a 3.44 u/w GPA (3.52 weighted). My courses are the toughest at my school (AP World in soph, 4 APs jr year, 5 APs senior year), I have extracurriculars that I’m dedicated to and an art portfolio, and I have a fairly unusual major in mind (art history – okay, maybe not that unusual, but for an Indian it’s a major leap xP), but I’m nothing extraordinary.

Is it even worth it to consider Brown ED? My GPA is so weak (and even if I get straight As first quarter, I don’t think it’d help much) that I don’t think I would stand up to the competition. Any advice? Besides write a killer essay of course, haha. Should I just wait it out at another college for a year and transfer if I still want to go to Brown?

you can still be premed as an art history major ;)

HAHA don't give my parents any ideas

your sense of humor is a light of hope in the darkness that is college confidential

if only my sense of humor could get me into college... :P

If Brown is your first choice, you may apply ED... but honestly, your chances are so slim that you might as well "play the ED card" at another reach school where you have slightly better chances.

Make sure you can manage your senior schedule. Not just for admissions at Brown, but also for admissions at any school. Your schedule is getting harder and harder, but you said your GPA is declining.

I agree with ILoveBrown...its nearly impossible to get in with a 3.44uw unless youre a football star or something.

hmm I do have a few other reach schools, but none that I'd apply ED for... =</p>

and yeah, I plan to focus on my studies a lot this semester.

err, what's a 3.44 GPA on a numerical system?

3.44 is a number, ikwame.

GPA is relatively unimportant at this point-how is your rank, and has it been declining. As for ED, if your scores aren't perfect or near perfect, i'd say you have little chance.

we don't do rank at my school, which is one good thing, haha.

my SATs were 2040, i'm taking them again though and studying more so i'm hoping for at least a 2200. taking the SAT IIs this fall too.

and amor... a 3.44 on a numeral scale is probably really bad. hahah. 3.5 is like a B+ GPA I think.

amor =/= ikwame

oops, my bad. haha

If your school doesn't rank, they probably do percentile, what are you in?

maybe top 15 or 20%? definitely not anything lower than top 25%.
