can i study for the sat and take the act?

I'm primarily studying for the SAT, but I want to take the ACT if I have time next year after the summer. So I was wondering, will I be alright if I study for the SAT and just take the ACT too?

I have a bunch of SAT books and no ACT books, and I really don't want to go out and buy another book to study out of.

What do you guys suggest?

The formats are completely different. Reading on the two tests is much different than each other, and there is no science portion on the SAT. I guess you don't need to study a different book just for the ACT, but you should do practice science questions and just know what kinds of questions are on each test (format, content, etc..)

There is some overlap in terms of knowledge base, but, as mentioned above, the format is quite different. SAT preparation will help you with the ACT, but work at least one practice ACT a couple of months before the test. Used prep books are cheap, and you can find at least one free practice test online.

No, if you understand the basic concepts of math and grammar in the SAT, there really isn't any reason why you'd need an ACT prep book. I suggest just borrowing a book from someone to skim through and know how long each section is. There really isn't much more you should have to do.

A lot of my teachers (and the guidance office at my school) have practice tests that can be borrowed...do you think you could borrow a practice ACT book from someone? The information isn't really different...the formats and set-ups are, though, so you should be familiar with those. (Just look over a practice test to see how the time is broken up...the ACT sections are longer, with fewer breaks in between.)

thats what i did my first ACT, i just took like 3 practice tets, which is no biggie

i got a 30 for the first time, i gotta get that to 32+ though

Look over the ACT's format first.
