i'm a transfer student and my SIR for berkeley is due june 1st and for ucla it's june 2nd. i can't make up my mind and want to buy some time. can i submit my STATEMENT OF INTENT TO REGISTER at both schools? will the schools revoke my admission if they know i've submitted a SIR to both schools?

1) No. An SIR is a Statement of Intent to Register. You obviously cannot register at both schools.

2) Quite possibly, yes.

Well, if you don't send Berkeley your SIR today, that means you're going to UCLA.

I would suggest thinking through your 2 top criteria for selecting a school - and based on those top make-or-break pro/cons, choose. My top two criteria are (assuming both schools are similar in academic standing) *small classes taught by professors vs large classes by grad students and *feeling comfortable in the library (with a little bit of late-night campus safety thrown in). When I use those as my TOP criteria, the private small school wins out over a place like UCLA.

Since both your schools are large and urban, your deciding criteria will be very different... so just concentrate on the top two criteria from your pro/con list. And hey - you can always attend the OTHER university for grad school ;)
