Can I take the SAT 4 times?

Will it look bad if I take the SAT 4 times? I’m taking it twice during senior year and twice in junior year. I took on already and got a 1280, and my school is forcing me to take another one.

If it matters, I’m planning to apply and go to UCs

(UCI, UCSD, UCSB)

UC’s will take the highest score from a single sitting and according to their website, they require all scores, so any low scores will have to be sent.

Although there is no official rule on how many times to take the SAT, two-three times is the norm. If your score continues to increase on each successive sitting, then taking it four times may be worth it.

Also keep in mind, that depending upon intended major, many UC’s recommend SAT subject tests which also have to be taken. I would not focus on sitting for four SAT tests right now. See how you do and you may be happy with 2nd or 3rd try. Do not become a testing taking drone, since this will give colleges a bad impression. Use your time wisely and if you get a good score, move on to work on the other areas of your application such as EC’s and essays.
