Can more graduated seniors do "actual results" threads?

“This site has made me feel like I don’t try hard enough”

This site is basically full of all the worried overachievers who need to self-validate (not that I don’t fit into this category, just and observation), so yeah, even people with amazing stats are dwarfed here by the top handful of students in the nation.

…I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep at night anymore…

^ Me too. I never knew how much one could truly overachieve until I joined CC.

^^haha that was actually one of the first posts I read on CC. Totally FREAKED me out…not a good way to start…lol

And! The scary part: he’s real, I swear. And he’s one of the nicest guys out there.

Awesome, do you personally know him?
He just stuns me, wow, he’s REALLY amazing. :open_mouth:

How does one even get to know of all these opportunities in the first place? I don’t even hear about 1/10 of those things he listed on his resume, but jeez… I need to like get in touch with him and beg him to find me all these opportunities. We apparently both have a common interest in leadership, politics, and law so that would actually work out quite well, haha.

As you can see, my SATs weren’t great. I have legacy at Brown but apparently it didn’t matter. Only upset about being rejected from Brown; was indifferent towards Cornell. Didn’t really consider going to Bing, PSU, or Geneseo, since they were all safeties. I’m very happy where I am now (NYU). Can’t imagine myself anywhere else.

All these stats have proven is that the admissions process is truly unpredictable. There’s absolutely no trend anyone can follow. I, personally, am quite relieved by that. I can no longer be bothered to stress.

Yea, please put what level of education your parents achieved.
That factors in.

Stats from a more average gal…

Accepted: Richmond (attending, & was semifinalist for Richmond Scholars, but did not make the final round), Vassar, Villanova ($2000 merit scholarship)
Rejected: William and Mary (my first choice)

My school offers 2 AP classes, and I took one of them. I took mostly other honors classes with a couple regular classes thrown in.

No special EC’s, really… I play piano, played tennis a couple of years, was in a lot of volunteer clubs (Key, Leo, etc) but did not have a large amount of hours at all. And by that I mean like 20. Haha. I did Governor’s School and I was a nominee for the state-wide NHS scholarship. But besides that… nada.

My recommendations were very good, and my essays were alright.

(National AP Scholar)

I taught Piano as my means of income for 5 years.

One rec came from band director who loves me and another from my math teacher (Calc AB, BC, and Stats) for the other one used.

Man, a national AP Scholar with 11 AP classes is tough, I only got like 9 or something like that. Plus, you’ve got really good test scores, not too shabby EC’s but I will admit they do seem a little spread out, it helps a little to show focus in one area.

this helps  thank you!

I wonder in regards to Rjg062 if the fact that he didn’t have 2 core teacher rec’s had anything to do with the somewhat surprising results. The band one probably should have been a supplemental at least I would think. Interesting though…

Yeah 2by2 I think that was probably it. I’m happy though I just wanted in at a technical school the money CM threw at me was considerably larger than MIT.

I’m a senior this year so here’s my first semester list.

I guess EC’s can get you pretty far. haha

You must have gotten pretty far with those EC’s, Lovett b/c your stats aren’t that strong for Stanford -_-. Not to be rude but if you started an SAT tutoring thing yourself in which case you are the tutor, then you should have gotten much higher scores.

why are all these people getting rejected from such great schools?.. harvard… yale… princeton… they’re so smart. geez i’m so nervous now.
