Can my poor SAT Math score be redeemed?

Hey guys..

So I took the SAT in April and then for the second time in October. I was expecting to due much better overall (just had back surgery before the April testing), but did shockingly worse on math! Here's my scores:

April: CR=630 M=680 W=650
Oct: CR=710 M=600 W=760

I won't be able to take the SAT again before my app deadlines, but I was wondering if the following would help:

Last year, as a junior, I took Calculus BC AP. I scored a 4 on the exam, with an AB subscore of 5. My school also only requires 3 years of math, but I've taken 6 (I began taking math for high school credit in 7th grade). I took all honors of AP math throughout high school and, every year, received a B (4.0 W) first semester and A (5.0 W) second semester.

I will also be taking the Math II SAT II in December and am DETERMINED to prove my math strength! It is by far my best subject so I have no clue what happened on the SAT!

Am I a lost cause because of my math score or will what I mentioned help redeem my application?

Thanks!

dude i feel your pain. My math went from a 660 to a 620 on the october SAT. Im devastated! and im convinced that my test was graded wrong lol. I ordered my original test and answer sheet too.

Don't worry pr22. Most colleges combine the highest subscores from different tests. So, you're 680 Math will not be discarded. Even though a 680 is considered by most people to be a very good score, you may be upset w/it, especially since you seem to be an excellent math student. SAT Math and High School math are completely different. There are kids in my BC Calc class who are very good students w/sub 600 Math scores.

(If you want to raise your score, I recommend the Princeton Review's Cracking the SAT. It doesn't waste time trying to teach the math, which is good for people who already scored well. It also gives good guessing techniques for some of the ambiguous questions. I raised my Math score form a 660 to a 710 w/this book).
