So I’m a civil engineering student who passed my AP english test with a 3, and my CC accepted that score so i could take the critical thinking, english 5. For berkeley, I need both english 1a and 5, but they required a 4 to waive their english 1a. since my CC accepted it, and im taking english 5, can i still apply?
For Berkeley engineering purposes, you can apply AP credit as shown here:
http://engineering.berkeley.edu/academics/undergraduate-guide/exams-ap-ib-level-and-transfer-credit-information
so it wouldn’t count toward transferring, right? @ucbalumnus also, thanks!
Correct, you must have English R1A or equivalent transfer course if you do not have at least a 4 on an AP English exam.
darn, oh well, Thanks!
@justin7473 This may sound weird, but you can still take English 1A even AFTER you take English 5. This will not give you any UNIT credit, but it will give you SUBJECT credit. This means that it will satisfy the requirements. My friend was in a similar position. This is what the transfer advisor told us. I know it sounds weird to take English 1A after English 5 tho. It would be considered taking it out of sequence, so be careful because the college of engineering is VERY strict about sequential classes.
@ccctransferuc Thanks! yeah, I am just trying to transfer in two years, and berkeley is low on my priorities, so unless something happens, I won’t be applying
@justin7473 Same! Did you graduate high school in May/June 2014 like me? Haha. APPLY TO BERKELEY REGARDLESS!
Why would I apply to berkeley if I don’t have one of the required classes? @ccctransferuc
