Should people be judged by their potential rather than by their experience and achievements?

Should people only be judged according to their past? Isn’t capability a measure too ? Judging people with their past only brings it back. However, judging people according to their abilities , aims or wills, results in more accomplishments and optimism. Considering a personal experience and a very famous man, the light bulb creator , Thomas Edison.

My grand mother, known today as an engineering doctor, was that kind of student who really lacked interest in all subjects and failed in most of them since grade 6 until grade 10. People have always misjudged and criticized her that she was always desperate about her aim (which was to at least enter the science section). Teachers or generally adults including her own parents who supposedly knew her best rejected the whole idea, and whenever she tried to defend her self , she faced horrible judgments of her past and how she couldn’t make it. My grand mother was so determined, and despite the struggle , she entered the science section, aiming for her goal, to be successful and prove every single one to be wrong and judgemental.
Thomas Eddison, the creator of the lightbulb. We as humanbeings are all grateful for him and his 999 trials that resulted in great benefits for the world. Thomas Eddison never judged himself according to his past, he knew his capabilities instead, and though he ‘’failed’’ 999 times before knowing successs. He mentioned the 999 attempts as ways that wouldn’t work, but not ‘’failures’’. He had faith for 999 trials, he knew his capabilities and had the will, that’s what brought him there.

The past has nothing new to tell,it’s just full if mis-judgement, regrets, moreover, it’s a waste of time. People shall only be judged on their capabilitiesand experiences and that’s not difficult as we know that “Man is the measurement of all things” -Protogoras, he can either believe he can and believe in his self or believe he can’t and just repeat history. No doubt, people’s attitude affects other’s, but it’s mostly about one’s self.
