<p>Despite the common malfunctions of technological advancements, technology’s brings far more advantages than disadvantages. Its successes outweigh its probable faults. Technology is of prominence to the evolution of mankind—has always been and will always be. The costs of technology do not outweigh its benefits—this theme is one that has permeated through great scores of historical context, particularly by Galileo Galilei and the explorers during the Age of Exploration.</p>
<pre><code>During the 17th century, the faithful population of Italy believed in the Catholic Church’s teachings of geocentrism: the Earth was in the core of the universe will all other planets and stars revolving around it. However, with the use of the telescope, Galileo soon discovered, through careful observation of the moons of Jupiter, that the Sun, not the Earth, sits in the universe’s center. Although heliocentrism received widespread disapproval and resulted in Galileo’s house arrest, the theory proved to be accurate.. Without technology—the telescope—we would still believe in the wrong idea of geocentrism. Galileo’s use of the telescope is an epitome of the notion that technology’s benefits outweigh its costs.
The Age of Exploration tells the story of many explorers venturing out into the unknown in hopes of finding and conquering land. One technological tool navigators used was the compass, an instrument with used to determine one’s location. With the compass, however, great explorers such as Christopher Columbus and Vasco da Gama, succeeded in making important discoveries of reaching America and India, respectiviely. Without the compass, explorers would have no idea where they were heading. These explorers are lucid evidence that technology is beneficial.
Technological progression helps advances our civilization. Without technology, our world would lag far behind and would not have achieved the prosperity it enjoyed today. While technology comes with some costs, its countless advantages greatly outweigh its potential threats. The aforementioned examples are sufficient information proving that technology is highly beneficial and contributes greatly to the advancement of the community as a whole.
