I wrote an essay for one of supplements that i really need someone to read. I believe that it is awful, and could use a lot of help revising it.

I also have two essays that I wrote for UC Berkely which I want to reuse for other applications. I want to use one of the essays for my Common App, and another for a non-common app school. These are even worse, IMO, than the one that I wrote for the supplement mentioned above.

I consider myself a good writer (got a 5 on the Lang exam and earned 95+ each quarter of AP Lang), but I am really struggling with my college essays. I realize that writing of this nature is meant to be personal, but I find it hard to draw the line between personal information which strengthens an essay and information which makes you, and the essay, look weak. Essentially, I have a problem being both personal and appealing at the same time in an essay. Should I just try to write in my "voice," and avoid fretting about whether I sound likeable? Any advice would be appreciated.
