I really need some help. I know that the common app prompts are really broad but I'm not sure if my topic is really do-able. I tried to make it really personal but it was difficult to make it interesting and compared to other topics, it seems so trivial and unimportant. I'm worried that it doesn't showcase a lot my abilities and it is slightly dark and maybe too serious.

If someone with experience could read it and give some feedback, it would be greatly appreciated.... as soon as I figure out how the PM system works... (do I just copy/paste it into the message or is there a way to send a file over?)

In particular, I want to know if the topic is viable or not, and if it is, how to make better transitions between paragraphs. As it is, I feel like it doesn't "flow" very well.

you can send it over to me. i think you just copy and paste it into the pm

Don’t post it publicly.

I wouldn’t send it to anyone who isn’t a senior member (1,000 posts or more), preferably 5,000 posts or more. You simply can’t trust strangers on the internet. I’d be more than happy to read it and help you with it, but remember; it’s a risk you have to take. So, once again, do NOT send your essay to anyone with a post number that doesn’t have three digits in it, preferably with four digits.

No offense to the above poster, it’s just that precautions should be taken with a matter this important and sensitive to your college app. :)

Point taken. I understand that it’s risky but I’m sure this won’t be my final draft anywho.

@decrescendo, no offense taken. I can see where you’re coming from, I’d be too nervous to PM my essay to any stranger, regardless of how many posts.

@joel5555, i know the damage is done, and it’s a moot point, but just to ease your nerves, you don’t have to worry at all. I already had my common app essay topic selected.
